snow

It snowed in Boulder before it stopped

We were supposed to get a few inches of snow today. We got alerts yesterday. We got alerts last night. We got more alerts this morning. It did in fact start snowing around 8 or 9, but none of it stuck, and now it's a sunny, if rather cold, day, with the fall colors complementing the greenery rather than set off against white blankets. Beautiful nonetheless.

Snowing again

March snow in Boulder

Flatirons

The Flatirons.

Those sheer faces are angled towards the south, making them more prominent. As the sun moves across the sky, those faces change color and texture. Every day they're beautiful, but today they seem to stand out all the more.

A snowy lot

Who'da thunk a parking lot could look so gorgeous?

Sunshine and snow

This morning, everything was just gorgeous. With all the texture on the mountains, you can see to some extent just how far they go. Usually they kind of blend together and look like one big crestline. I love days like this!

Digging out my car

We were lucky that the snow was really pretty light and easy to shovel. I dug out my car before the sun hardened the powder into ice sheets.

December the 21st

The sight of parked cars the next morning. Winter officially arrived that afternoon.

Jay Road white-out

It was oddly beautiful and peaceful once I got off of the Diagonal Highway and onto Jay.

A half mile down, though, cross winds blew whiteness across the highway, making it hard to make out the road just in front of the car, let alone other vehicles or even the roadside ditches.

In traffic, watch out for idiots

In this shot, the truck on the left has just sped across all the lanes and was gunning it down the highway, weaving through the cars. I don't know what happened to him, but you can see what the visibility was at that time. He had cut me off a mile earlier. Fucktard.

White-out on the highway
