These guys got me really good.
I can talk about it now, the day after, right? No spoilers? The nail for me was seeing the names supposedly associated with the endeavor. Also, the rumors and whispers of actual new things that may or may not be happening really soon (wink wink nudge nudge say no more) served as the perfect set-up for this spike.
What's really low about this prank, though, is the use of a four-letter word: fork. Now that's really really low.
I think I'm way too trusting.

Reading Is an Interactive Activity
When I first read the drup.us site after seeing your post, I thought -- Laura, that is soooo obviously a joke -- how gullible are you?
However on further reflection, I realized that my evaluation of the drup.us web site was absolutey colored by the fact I knew it was a hoax before I arrived. My statement to myself, "I certainly would never have been fooled by that" is a statement that is absolutely not provable.
Your inability to apply your "is this bullshit" filter when you were reading that site could have been the result of a million different factors. It might be a general personality trait but it could also have been influenced by the nature of the interactions or feelings you were having immediately preceding your arrival at the site.
"I think I'm way to trusting." That trait can certainly be problematic when walking through a mine field. Though being stingy about trust is certainly more toxic and ultimately not effective in most situations.
Thanks for being brave enough to share your trust with this audience.
