God -- I really need to redesign as well, but... I spend all waking hours working on drupal themes, templates, and modules -- when I have free time, the mere thought writing more "#block-blog-0 {background-postion....", and theme_menu_tree(satan) makes me want to set buildings on fire.
That said, if I did anything to this site, it would be using a different serif font. I dare you to replace your current fonts with this... font-family:"Palatino Linotype", georgia, serif;
I'm not a big Georgia fan, and don't have Palatino Linotype on any of my computers, Mac or PC. In fact, when it comes to on-screen fonts, I don't much care for serif fonts at all.
There are studies indicating that sans-serif fonts are easier to read on the computer screen. One first-hand account is Ralph Wilson's post on the matter. This post also is useful.
Personally, I do prefer Verdana. I was just in a rush putting this site together, and really did the Courier font as a lark. When I have time, I'll have to really do something about it.
The not-always-reliable Wikipedia has a little history on serif vs. sans-serif.

this design is pretty cool
wha? i assume you are being sarcastic.
This ain't hardly nothing
Maybe that's the appeal. If you really like it, maybe I should contribute it, as basic as it is, to Drupal once I get CVS working.
Thanks again!
BTW, your site looks pretty sharp.
I will Redesign after I quit smoking, and start flossing
